The National Broadcasters (NAB) stated on 28 June 2026 that it is aware of the closure of Nation Media Group Uganda stations and has approached Government institutions for insight and consensus settlement.
In a holding statement issued by the NAB Secretariat, the association said it is “closely monitoring the unfolding situation regarding the shutdown of our member stations; NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Dembe FM, KFM, Daily Monitor and the East African — all under the Nation Media Group (NMG) Uganda.”
NAB also observed that there were “comments made” on the X account of the CDF of the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) that the stations “will not re-open without his permission”.
