The Nairobi County Government has announced the only official payment accounts that residents should use when paying for county services.
In a notice shared by Governor Johnson Sakaja on Tuesday, June 30, the county emphasized that all payments must be made through the approved bank accounts or the official M-Pesa Paybill.
It also warned that no cash payments will be accepted.
The county said the listed accounts are the only authorized revenue payment accounts for Nairobi City County services.
The notice states,”These are the ONLY AUTHORIZED revenue payment accounts for Nairobi City County.”
Cashless Policy Has Been in Place Since 2023
The latest announcement reinforces Nairobi City County’s cashless revenue collection policy, which was introduced in January 2023 under Governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration.
When unveiling the policy, Sakaja said the county would no longer accept cash payments for its services.
“I would like to inform Nairobians that going forward, we shall not accept any CASH payment. We will commence enforcement in February. No member of staff is allowed to conduct any enforcement in the month of January as we are using this month to allow for transition to the Unified Business Permit (UBP) regime,” Sakaja said.
Residents have been advised to avoid paying through any other accounts to protect themselves from fraud and ensure their payments are correctly received by the county.
