Donald Kipkorir Given 3 Hours to Apologise as Woman Named in Viral NTSA Payment Post Breaks Silence

Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has been given three hours to remove a social media post, issue a public apology and compensate a woman whose name appeared in a viral NTSA payment transaction.

In a demand letter dated June 30, 2026, lawyers representing Catherine Cherono Tomno accused Kipkorir of publishing false and defamatory statements on his verified X account, where he has more than 1.5 million followers.

According to the demand letter, Kipkorir questioned why an NTSA payment appeared to have been made to a KCB account bearing Catherine Cherono Tomno’s name.

In the post, he wrote, “My kid-bro received a text message purportedly from NTSA-Kenya for overspeeding… As a dutiful citizen, he paid the fine to the account at @KCBInKenya given by NTSA. The account is in the name of Catherine Jerono Tomno. The law does not allow Government institutions to open bank accounts in the names of individuals. Is NTSA exempt?”

The lawyers say the post led many people to believe that Tomno was involved in fraud, corruption and the illegal collection of government revenue.

Woman Says She is a Licensed KCB Agent

The demand letter states that Tomno is a licensed KCB Bank agent operating at KCB Freedom Heights along Lang’ata Road.

According to her lawyers, the transaction in question involved a customer identified as Roderick Barmasai, who visited the banking hall after receiving an NTSA traffic ticket.

Because the customer did not have cash, he withdrew money from his M-Pesa account through Tomno’s KCB agency.

The withdrawal was processed through KCB Agent Paybill No. 522533 before the money was used to pay the NTSA traffic fine through KCB’s official banking system.

Her lawyers explained that the payment confirmation displayed Tomno’s name because it reflected the registered KCB agency account that processed the withdrawal, not because the money was deposited into her personal account.

They added that an official NTSA payment receipt was generated and issued after the transaction was completed.

Lawyers Say Kipkorir Failed to Verify Facts With NTSA

The lawyers argue that Kipkorir should have verified the facts with the bank, NTSA or their client before making the publication.

They say he failed to make inquiries with:

  • Catherine Cherono Tomno
  • KCB Bank
  • NTSA
  • Any other relevant authority

Instead, they claim he published allegations that caused public suspicion and outrage.

Lawyers Outline Impact of the Viral Post

According to the demand letter, the publication caused significant harm to Tomno.

Her lawyers claim she has received numerous calls and messages questioning her integrity, suffered damage to her business reputation, had her business operations disrupted and was summoned by KCB Bank for questioning.

The letter also says she has experienced emotional distress and continues to suffer reputational and commercial losses.

The lawyers further note that NTSA later issued a public statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the transaction and confirming investigations into the matter, arguing that this showed the conclusions drawn in the viral post were premature and misleading.

Demands Issued to Donald Kipkorir

The lawyers have demanded that within three hours of receiving the letter, Kipkorir should:

  • Permanently remove the publication and related reposts under his control.
  • Publish an unequivocal public apology and full retraction on his verified X account.
  • Acknowledge that Tomno acted only as a duly authorised KCB Bank agent facilitating a lawful banking transaction.
  • Stop making further defamatory statements about her.
  • Provide a written undertaking not to repeat similar publications.
  • Compensate her for the alleged damage to her reputation.

Legal Action Threatened

The law firm warned that if the demands are not met within the stated time, it has instructions to file legal proceedings seeking general, aggravated and exemplary damages, court orders compelling the removal of the publication, a court-approved apology, interest and the costs of the suit.

The lawyers also stated that, given the wide circulation of the post and the alleged reputational harm caused, their client reserves the right to seek substantial damages.
