It has been a day since Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives fatally shot four gangsters along the Eldoret-Kiplombe-Soy Road, and now they have discovered what they believe is the gang’s operational hideout.

According to a statement by DCI on July 7, detectives from Soy acted on credible intelligence and conducted a raid in a house in the Sungura area.

Preliminary investigations show that this house was being used as a base of operations for the gang’s illegal activities.

After detectives conducted a search of the premises, they discovered several items linked to the criminal gang.

Items Recovered By DCI

The items recovered include five Kenya Defence Force jackets, a crowbar, a heavy hammer, two mobile phones, and other items.

After recovering the military attire, detectives have been able to add another piece to the puzzle.

This is a criminal network pretending to be the police while carrying out violent robberies across the Rift Valley region.

The detectives from Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) arrived at the scene and documented everything, ensuring that all recovered items were secured as evidence.

The Shooting

The detectives had ambushed the suspects, but they started shooting at the police; that is when the detectives also opened fire and shot them.

The DCI say that the suspects have been impersonating the police for over a year while targeting less suspicious Kenyans.

Detectives recovered a gun, which will undergo forensic investigations to determine whether it was used in another crime.

Investigations Ongoing

As the investigations continue to take place, detectives are focused on finding out the whereabouts of the suspects who fled from the scene and uncovering all the details of the operation.

According to the detectives, two suspects managed to escape during the shootout.

The DCI urges the public to continue helping them to catch suspects with their reporting as they continue to work to protect Kenyans.
