KNEC Announces Training for KJSEA and KCSE Examiners

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has opened applications for qualified teachers and tutors seeking to train as examiners for the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

In a notice dated July 10, KNEC said the examiner training will be conducted between July and August 2026, with successful applicants expected to undergo both online and residential training before they can be engaged to mark national examinations.

“ The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) will conduct training of examiners for Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination between July and August 2026,” read part of the notice.

According to the council, the training programme will be conducted partially online before proceeding to a residential physical session at a venue that will be communicated to shortlisted applicants.

Successful candidates will receive instructions on how to access the online learning materials, while details of the residential training venue will be shared at a later date.

Additionally, KNEC noted that teachers who complete the training may subsequently be recruited to mark KJSEA and KCSE examination papers, depending on staffing requirements for each subject.

The examination body stated that the training fee has been set at Ksh 10,500, and it will only be paid by applicants who are shortlisted for the programme.

KNEC added that shortlisted candidates will receive payment instructions through a text message (SMS) as well as via the application portal.

The council has invited qualified teachers and tutors to apply for examiner training in the available KJSEA and KCSE papers.
