Fully Funded UK Master’s Scholarships Open to Kenyan Graduates in 2027: How to Apply

The Ministry of Education has invited applications for 19 United Kingdom-based Commonwealth Master’s Scholarships for 2027, all sponsored by the Kenyan Government.

According to the Ministry, the State Department for Higher Education said the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom had requested the Ministry to submit nominations.

The Ministry states in a notice published on 25 August 2026 that:

“The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom (UK) through the Ministry of Education has invited nominations of Nineteen (19) Kenyan citizens for consideration for full Master’s scholarships awardable in 2027. The final selection will be conducted by the CSC, and the awards are tenable at any approved United Kingdom University where the CSC awardees are registered.”

The scholarships are under the Ministry of Education and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the UK programme through the State Department for Higher Education.

“For further information on how to apply, please access the Ministry website at http://www.education.go.ke that is on the scholarship theme.” The board stated.

The Ministry’s deadline scheme is two-stage.

The Online application on the CSC portal shall open on 8th September 2026 and shall close on 20th October 2026 (16:00 GMT).

After completing the online process, applicants should transmit their application to the Ministry.

“Applications should be submitted to the Ministry of Education on or before 22nd October 2026 at 5.00 pm,” the notice stated.

Commonwealth Scholarship Programme

A Commonwealth Scholarship is a fully funded post-graduate scholarship for students from low- and middle-income Commonwealth countries who want to study in the UK but cannot afford to.

The essence of the programme is to promote sustainable development and future leaders and innovators.

UK Scholarship Application Guidelines

There is no mention of any restrictions on universities or subjects in the summary notice. Therefore, applicants can pursue courses offered by approved UK universities with available CSC placements.

Individuals should qualify for both the Citizenship and Immigration Services criteria and the Ministry of Education nomination requirements at http://www.education.go.ke.
