Former K24 Journalist David Kagina Lands Top PR Role at PKF Eastern Africa

Award-winning Kenyan journalist David Kagina has announced a new chapter in his career after joining PKF in Eastern Africa as Head of Communication and Public Relations.

Kagina shared the news on LinkedIn on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, marking his move from journalism into corporate communications.

“I’m pleased to share that I have joined PKF in Eastern Africa in the capacity of Public Relations & Communications,” Kagina said in his announcement.

David Kagina Leaves Journalism After Years in Media

Kagina brings more than eight years of experience in journalism and media to his new role.

He has worked as a multimedia journalist, television presenter, news anchor and show host, with experience in investigative reporting, human-interest stories, political interviews, climate change and science communication.

Before joining PKF, Kagina worked at K24 TV, where he served as a journalist, news anchor and show host after joining the Mediamax-owned station in March 2022.

He regularly hosted political interview segments and special features, covering issues including governance, national budgets and other matters affecting Kenyans.

His previous media experience includes working at Switch TV Kenya, where he spent more than two years as an assistant editor and Swahili news anchor for Switch TV Adhuhuri.

He has also worked with Afarmers Media and contributed to regional media platforms including Big3 Africa and NBC Uganda.

Focus on Climate and Science Communication

Throughout his media career, Kagina has also focused on climate and science communication.

He has participated in major platforms such as the Africa Climate Summit, where he advocated for accurate environmental reporting and efforts to counter misinformation in climate coverage.

His professional development has also included the 2025 INMA Elevate Africa programme, where he was selected as a scholar. The programme focused on developing African media leaders and exposing them to modern journalism business models and artificial intelligence.

Kagina is also an alumnus of the InterRussia Fellowship Programme for journalists.

Beyond journalism, he works as a voice-over artist and moderator.

New Role at PKF in Eastern Africa

David Kagina will now lead communication and public relations at PKF in Eastern Africa.

His LinkedIn profile identifies him as Head of Communication and PR at PKF in Eastern Africa, a role that will see him use his experience in storytelling, media relations and communicating with different audiences.

Reflecting on the move, Kagina said his years in journalism had shaped his understanding of effective communication.

“My experience in storytelling, media relations, and communicating with diverse audiences has shaped how I understand the power of clear and meaningful communication,” he said.

He added that he was looking forward to contributing to PKF Eastern Africa’s communications efforts and strengthening relationships with its stakeholders.

“I look forward to bringing this experience to PKF Eastern Africa, contributing to its communications efforts, and building strong relationships with its stakeholders,” Kagina said.
