Kenya Airways Bids Emotional Farewell to Flight Purser After 37 Years of Service

Kenya Airways (KQ) has bid farewell to Flight Purser Caroline Nderitu after she completed her final flight from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), marking the end of a 37-year career with the airline.

The airline welcomed Nderitu home on Wednesday night, celebrating nearly four decades of service during which she became a familiar face to passengers and colleagues across its network.

“Tonight, we welcomed Flight Purser Caroline Nderitu home after her final flight from New York (JFK), bringing to a close an incredible chapter that has spanned 37 years,” said KQ.

In a statement shared on its official social media platforms, Kenya Airways described Nderitu as more than a colleague, saying she had been a mentor, a source of warmth and a valued member of cabin crew throughout her career.

37 Years Of Service

According to KQ, for 37 years, she served as a Flight Purser, a senior cabin crew role responsible for leading in-flight service, coordinating the cabin crew and ensuring passenger safety and comfort during flights.

Her final journey from New York brought to a close a career that spanned decades of growth and change within the airline and the aviation industry.

KQ said Nderitu had built lasting friendships with fellow crew members and created memorable experiences for countless passengers who flew with her over the years.

As she retires, Kenya Airways said it was celebrating not only her years of dedicated service but also the positive impact she had on those she worked with throughout her career.

“Caroline, we wish you good health, happiness, and fulfillment as you begin this new chapter. Thank you for being part of The Pride of Africa’s journey and for the lasting legacy you leave behind,” KQ said.

The farewell was accompanied by a warm welcome upon her return from New York, with colleagues gathering to mark the milestone and honour her contribution to the airline.
