Father Arrested Over Alleged Defilement, Fatal Assault of Daughter

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 47-year-old man for allegedly defiling and assaulting his 9-year-old daughter, who later died.

According to the DCI, the incident occurred on September 6, 2026, in Kibra, Nairobi County, after officers received a distress call regarding the matter.

Police officers at Kibra Police Station received a report that the suspect, identified as Norman Swahili, had allegedly defiled and assaulted his 9-year-old daughter.

Following the report, police officers, accompanied by members of the community policing team, rushed to the scene and found the suspect.

Child Succumbed To Death

Upon arrival, the police officers were informed that the suspect had rushed the injured child to Mbagathi Hospital to seek medical attention after assaulting her.

Following the news that the child was in the hospital, officers proceeded to the hospital only to receive the news that the nine-year-old girl had been pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Investigations were carried out, and preliminary investigations revealed multiple bruises and swellings across the child’s body, as well as a freshly lost upper incisor tooth, grim signs of the assault by her father.

Additionally, further investigations revealed that the child had been sexually assaulted by her father, in addition to physically abusing her.

Suspect In Custody

The body of the nine-year-old was moved to Nairobi Funeral Home for preservation while awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.

Norman Swahili, the main suspect, remains in police custody as detectives process the case and await his arraignment in court.

The DCI has also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and is standing with them during this difficult time.

Additionally, the DCI has cautioned the public against all forms of violence, defilement, and physical abuse, especially against minors.

DCI has described such acts as a grave violation of the law and a betrayal of the trust and protection that every child deserves from their loved ones.

Furthermore, the DCI says it will continue to pursue perpetrators of such heinous crimes, and stern lawful action will be taken against anyone who is found guilty.
