BIC Supports 300,000 Kenyan Learners With Writing Tools

BIC has concluded the sixth edition of its Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen initiative in Kenya, with 300,000 learners receiving writing tools to support their education through a partnership with CFK Africa.

According to BIC, the programme has been running since 2020, and aims to improve access to essential school supplies and ease the burden faced by learners who lack basic writing materials.

BIC said the initiative has now donated more than 2 million writing tools to over 1.5 million students across Kenya since its launch.

The BIC East Africa General Manager Paloma Lengema said the company remains committed to ensuring learners have the tools they need to participate in school and succeed academically.

Writing Materials

She noted that providing writing materials is part of BIC’s long-standing commitment to education, adding that the initiative has continued to grow its impact each year while allowing consumers to contribute to supporting learners in need.

Lengema said the programme has demonstrated the value of community partnerships in helping equip students with essential learning materials that enable them to participate more effectively in class.

CFK Africa also highlighted the importance of addressing everyday educational needs that are often overlooked.

Organisation’s representative, Mediatrix Tuju, said learning materials play a critical role in helping learners access education, adding that partnerships such as the one with BIC make it possible to respond to those practical needs while keeping students at the centre of the initiative.

Venue Of Event

This latest donation event was held at the Genesis Joy Project, where school leaders said access to personal writing materials helps learners participate in lessons without interruption.

Christopher Barassa, the Director of Genesis Joy Project, said having their own pens gives students greater confidence to complete classroom assignments while supporting a more comprehensive learning experience.

Beyond the Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen campaign, the company continues to run other education-focused programmes across Kenya and the wider East Africa region.

Among them is Express Myself with My BIC Pen, an initiative designed to encourage learners to express themselves through writing, drawing and creativity as part of their educational development.
