PSC Announces 1,000 Paid Internship Opportunities for Graduates : How to Apply

The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced 1,000 internship opportunities under the Ministry of Education’s Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 5.

In a notice dated September 15, the State Department for Basic Education said successful applicants will be deployed to sub-county schools.

“The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education has declared 1,000 internship vacancies under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 5,” read part of the notice.

The 12-month internship programme offers successful candidates the chance to build practical skills and experience while supporting the implementation of digital learning in schools.

Requirements

According to the PSC, applicants must meet several requirements to qualify for the internship positions.

Candidates must have graduated no earlier than 2022 and should hold one of the following qualifications from a recognized institution:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Education, specializing in Information Communication Technology (ICT).
• A Bachelor’s degree in ICT.
• A Diploma in ICT.
• A Diploma in ICT Integration in Education.

Applicants should also have knowledge and skills in areas including networking and infrastructure, application development, information security, and project management.

They should demonstrate the ability to integrate ICT into education, particularly in e-learning and content development.

Candidates are also expected to have research and innovation skills that can support the implementation of the Digital Literacy Programme.

Successful applicants must be willing to work on a full-time basis and be deployed to any Sub-county Education office.

Applicants who have previously benefited from a similar government internship programme are not eligible.

PSC: Duties of the Interns

PSC noted that the selected interns will support schools in the implementation and use of digital learning technologies.

Their responsibilities will include supporting e-learning and content development in line with school schemes of work, as well as providing class support and training primary school teachers on the use of digital literacy devices.

Other duties will include supporting the implementation of the Digital Learning Programme and developing innovations aimed at improving the use of digital learning in schools.

Interns will further assist schools in promoting the safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning.

They will be expected to help teachers integrate ICT into teaching, learning and assessment, as well as support staff in developing and producing key school policies and procedures.

The interns will also provide first-line support and maintenance of ICT services within schools.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified candidates are required to submit their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s job portal.

Applications can be made through the PSC’s official recruitment platforms, www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke.

Applicants are required to submit their applications on or before October 5, 2026.

Successful interns will receive a stipend from the State Department for Basic Education at a rate determined by the Government.

Upon successful completion of the programme, interns will receive a certificate from the State Department for Basic Education.

Meanwhile, PSC highlighted that the 12 months internship programme is non-renewable.
