KMPDC Announces New Deadline for Free Ambulance Registration

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has extended the deadline for free registration and licensing of ambulance services in Kenya to October 30, 2026.
In a notice dated September 15, the Council said the extension follows the launch of Ambulance Evacuation Services and is aimed at giving ambulance owners and operators additional time to complete the registration process at no cost.
“Following the successful launch of Ambulance Evacuation Services, the Council is pleased to announce that the deadline for free registration and licensure has been extended to 30th October 2026,” read part of the notice.
KMPDC Gives Ambulance Operators Given More Time to Register
KMPDC reminded all providers of ambulance services in Kenya of the requirement to register with the Council.
The Council said operators should use the extended grace period to submit their applications before the new deadline.
“Ambulance owners and operators are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this extended grace period to submit their applications at no cost,” KMPDC stated.

According to the council, the registration requirement is being implemented pursuant to the Health Act, 2017 and the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act (Cap 253).
KMPDC further directed ambulance owners and operators to submit their registration applications through the Council’s EMS Portal by October 30, 2026, to qualify for the free registration and licensing period.
“Ambulance owners/operators are advised to submit their registration applications through the EMS Portal: https://ems.kmpdc.go.ke/ by 30th October 2026.”
After the deadline, applicants will be required to pay the applicable charges for application, inspection, registration and licensing as stipulated under the relevant regulations.
Operators to Face Regulatory Action After Deadline
The Council warned that failure to register within the stipulated period may attract regulatory action.
Ambulance operators who do not complete the registration process by the deadline may also be subject to the applicable fees for application, inspection, registration and licensing.

KMPDC also said it remains committed to ensuring that emergency medical services provided to Kenyans are safe, accessible and of the required quality.
The Council urged all ambulance owners and operators to complete the registration process within the extended grace period to avoid additional charges and possible regulatory action.
“Ambulance owners and operators are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this extended grace period to submit their applications at no cost. After 30th October 2026, requisite charges for application, inspection, registration, and licensing will apply as stipulated under the applicable regulations.”
