Kenya Power Lists Counties Set for Sunday Power Blackouts

Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance that will affect selected areas in Nairobi, Kajiado, Kisumu, Nyeri, and Meru counties on Friday, September 18, 2026.

According to a notice dated September 17, Kenya Power said the scheduled maintenance will result in temporary power interruptions in the affected areas as the utility company carries out maintenance work.

Residents and businesses in the listed areas have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outages.

‘Good evening, please find the areas scheduled for power maintenance tomorrow, Friday, 18th September 2026,” Kenya Power stated.

Kenya Power Lists Affected Areas and Times: Nairobi Power Outage

In Nairobi, the maintenance will affect Mountain View Estate and surrounding areas.

The outage is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas listed by Kenya Power include Waiyaki Way, Mountain View Estate, Thiongo Road and Marenga Road, as well as adjacent customers.

Kajiado County

In Kajiado County, planned maintenance will affect Matasia, Oloika and Nkoroi from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Affected areas include Kamura, Oloika, Nkoroi, Arap Moi, St. Nicholas and parts of Matasia, together with adjacent customers.

Kisumu Areas

In Kisumu County, Kenya Power has scheduled maintenance in Ridge Park Estate.

The planned interruption will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting Ridge Park Estate and adjacent customers.

Nyeri County

In Nyeri County, the affected area is Nyaithee Village, and the maintenance is scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Kenya Power listed Nyaithee Village, Nyaithee Primary School, Nyaithee Coffee Factory, and Githiru, together with adjacent customers, among the areas that will experience the interruption.

Meru Areas Facing Power Interruption

Furthermore, Kenya Power stated that in Meru County, planned maintenance will affect Kiguchwa, Githu and Amungaa from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected locations include Mucuune, Maliolo, St. Stephen Primary School, St. Benedict Primary School, Kiguchwa Primary and Secondary Schools, Kiguchwa Shopping Centre, Kiguchwa Safcom, KK Mwethe Primary School and Kaliene Secondary School.

Other listed areas are Ametho Boarding, St. Lucy Kirigwa, Ankamia Mixed Day Secondary School, Ankamia Primary School, Ngutu Shopping Centre, Miurine Secondary School, Karurune Village, Gachuuru Market, Githu Market, Githu Mixed Secondary School, Kiarau, Irindiro Secondary School, Kieni TBC, Amungaa and Murichia Coffee Factory, as well as adjacent customers.
