Kenya Power Announces Week-Long Maintenance Exercise in Some Parts of Nairobi

Kenya Power has announced a planned maintenance exercise targeting various transformers in parts of Nairobi.

In a statement dated September 15, Kenya Power said its teams are carrying out maintenance work on various transformers in Roysambu and Githurai this week from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Saturday.

The company added that the exercise, being carried out under the Boresha Roysambu initiative, is aimed at maintaining the electricity network and addressing issues that could affect power supply in the affected areas.

“Our teams are carrying out planned maintenance works on various transformers in the Roysambu and Githurai areas this week, under the Boresha Roysambu exercise. The works are running this week from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Saturday,” Kenya Power stated.

Kenya Power Targets Roysambu, Githurai

Kenya Power also appealed to residents in the affected areas for patience and understanding as its teams carry out the maintenance works.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams carry out the exercise,” Kenya Power said.

Customers experiencing power-related incidents have been advised to report them through the available Kenya Power channels.

The company urged customers to dial *977# or use the myPower App to report power-related incidents.

“The work is focused on maintaining the network and addressing issues that could affect power supply in the area. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our teams carry out the exercise. To report any power-related incidents, dial *977# or use the myPower App,” read part of the statement.

Areas Scheduled for Maintenance on Tuesday

The maintenance exercise comes as Kenya Power continues to carry out planned works in different parts of the country to maintain its electricity network and address issues that could affect power supply.

For Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the company has scheduled maintenance in several areas across different regions.

Nairobi Region

In Nairobi, maintenance is scheduled in parts of Langata and Royal Park Estate from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The affected areas include KMA, St. Mary’s Hospital, GK Prisons, Sunvalley Estate, and Otiende Estate, among other adjacent customers.

Mt. Kenya Region

In Kirinyaga County, maintenance will be carried out in Kianyaga and Rukenya from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include parts of Kianyaga Town, Rwambiti Market, Rukenya Market, Kathata C/Fact, Kianyaga Hospital, and parts of Kutus Town.

In Tharaka Nithi County, the exercise will affect Ngunga Market from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including Ngunga Market, Ngunga Primary School and Karambari Primary School.

Several areas in Nyeri County will also be affected, including Sangare Milk Plant, Endarasha and Kanyag ia, as well as Thangathi, Kiuu and Ithanji, with maintenance scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Coast Region

In Kwale County, maintenance will be undertaken in Diani from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas including Tandoori, University of Nairobi and Manyatta.

Kasemeni will also experience maintenance from 9:00 a.m. to noon, covering Bofu, Kasemeni, Mtaa, Mazola, Pemba, Majengo, Mienzeni and Gandhini.

In Mombasa County, the whole of Miritini is scheduled for maintenance from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas listed include Doshi Miritini, Miritini Estate, AXEL Lubes, Bonje, Kilimanjaro Biscuits, Compact, Kitui Village and Miritini Railway Station.

Kajiado and Kisumu

In Kajiado County, maintenance will be carried out in Kimuka and Maragara from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In West Pokot County, Sarmach, Nasolot and Karon are scheduled for maintenance from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kisumu County, KEDA Ceramics and adjacent customers will be affected by maintenance from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
