Tragic as Woman Dies in Matatu After Appearing to Fall Asleep During Journey

A routine matatu journey from Kangemi to Nairobi CBD turned tragic after a woman identified as Betty reportedly died while still seated inside the vehicle.

Betty, a resident of Senende in Vihiga County, had boarded a matatu at Kangemi and was headed to town, according to an account shared about the incident. She reportedly paid her fare before finding a seat and settling in for the journey.

Nothing appeared unusual about her condition at first. Betty leaned back in her seat and appeared to be asleep as the vehicle continued along its route.

Conductor Makes Shocking Discovery

According to the account, other passengers gradually reached their destinations and alighted from the matatu. Betty, however, remained in her seat.

It was only after most, or all, passengers had left that the conductor reportedly noticed she had not moved. What had appeared to be a passenger taking a nap had become a disturbing discovery.
