Ruto Leads Tributes for Former Judge, Husband of MP Jessica Mbalu

President William Ruto has condoled with Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu following the death of her husband, former High Court Judge Joseph Mutava Mbalu.
In a post shared on X, Ruto said he stood with Mbalu and the wider family following the death of the former judge.
“We stand with Mheshimiwa Jessica Mbalu, MP Kibwezi East, following the loss of her beloved husband, and the entire Mbalu family as they mourn a man who meant everything to them,” Ruto said.
The President also prayed for strength for the family, Justice Mutava’s colleagues and those who knew him.
“May God give his family, colleagues and all who knew him the strength to endure the loss and cherish his memory. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
Justice Mutava Dies After Sudden Illness
Justice Mutava died on Saturday morning after falling ill suddenly the previous night. He was taken for medical attention at Makindu Orthopaedic and Trauma Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment.
According to reports, the former judge had been in good health earlier on Friday before his condition changed later that night.
News of his death has since drawn messages of condolence from political leaders and members of the public, with tributes being directed to Jessica Mbalu and the wider family.
Leaders Mourn Former Judge
Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama described Justice Mutava as a long-time family friend while sending his condolences to Jessica Mbalu.
Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka also mourned the former judge, describing him as a public servant who served Kenya with honour and integrity. He extended his sympathies to Mbalu, her children and the wider family.
The messages come as the family begins the process of making arrangements following the sudden death.
