Khalwale and Four Children: Senator Lists Family’s 5 UoN Alumni as He Celebrates Daughter’s Graduation

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has celebrated his daughter Flavia Shimuli Khalwale following her graduation from the University of Nairobi, highlighting the long-standing connection between his family and the institution.

In a statement dated Friday, September 18, Khalwale said Flavia graduated from the University of Nairobi School of Economics with a Second Class Upper Division Bachelor of Economics and Statistics.

He expressed his pride in his daughter and highlighted UON’s place in his family’s academic journey.

“Congratulating and celebrating my daughter, Flavia Shimuli Khalwale, for graduating today from the University of Nairobi School of Economics with a 2nd Class Upper Division Bachelor of Economics and Statistics,” Khalwale said.

Khalwale and Family Share UoN Connection

Flavia’s graduation has brought attention to the university connection shared by members of the Khalwale family.

Khalwale said UoN now counts five members of his family among its alumni.

He listed himself alongside Tigana Kachuma Khalwale, Inger Imbuhila Khalwale, Linda Lichuma Khalwale and Flavia Shimuli Khalwale.

According to the senator, the family members have pursued different fields after their studies, ranging from medicine and auditing to actuarial science, civil engineering and economics.

Dr Boni Khalwale – Doctor of Medicine and Senator.
Tigana Kachuma Khalwale – Auditor at the Office of the Auditor-General.
Inger Imbuhila Khalwale – Actuarial Scientist at the Kenya Revenue Authority.
Linda Lichuma Khalwale – Civil Engineer at the Kenya National Highways Authority.
Flavia Shimuli Khalwale – Economist.

Flavia Adds Economics to Family’s UoN Legacy

Meanwhile, his daughter’s graduation adds economics and statistics to the range of disciplines represented by the family.

Her Second Class Upper Division degree marks the latest academic achievement celebrated by Khalwale, who used the occasion to reflect on the university’s role in his family’s education.
