A female Grade 9 candidate was found raped, killed and her body dumped inside the sugarcane plantation in Lolgorian, Narok County.

She was murdered while on her way to school to sit for her Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA) on October 29, 2025.

Police officers in Transmara South, Narok County have launched investigations into the incident where the body was found with the neck slit open and multiple injuries all over her body

Cynthia Chelangat, 13-year old was a pupil at Engoiperien School in Angata Barikoi Ward, Narok County.

Assistant Chief Gibes Details

Assistant Chief of Oldonyo Orok Location, Robert Kirui, said after getting a report of the pupil dumped inside the sugarcane plantation, he informed the police.

Police officers arrived at the scene and took the body to the Lolgorian Hospital morgue.

“DCI officers have visited the scene and taken over investigations to establish details about the incident,” Kirui stated.

According to residents, the assailants are unknown.

Residents Plea to Authorities

This mysterious incident sparked outrage among locals who have called out police officers to quickly intervene and bring the suspects on board.

“Mtoto anachinjwa kama kuku in school uniform, aje sasa mbona hii imefanyika kwa huyu mtoto tuko na hasira mbaya sana: which translates; (A child is being slaughtered like a chicken while in school uniform, how could this happen to this child.. We are very angry),” said Johana Kamilan, a resident of Transmara South.

According to Chelangat’s aunt, the deceased is an orphan and was dependable by his siblings.

The aunto asked for investigations into the issue to ensure justice prevail.

“Huyo mtoto hana ata Mama, alikuwa anategemewa na ndugu zake Tunataka haki,” Chelangat’s aunt said.

The minor was killed about a kilometer from school where she was expected to sit for her 3 days exams.

The lifeless body of Cynthia is currently lying at Lolgoria Level 5 Hospital as the hunt for her killers is underway.
