TSC Advertises CEO Job With Ksh698,600 Salary, Ksh30M Mortgage and Ksh6M Car Loan

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised a vacancy for the position of Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, inviting qualified Kenyan citizens to apply for the senior management position.

According to the advertisement under Vacancy No. TSC/CS/001/2026, the successful applicant will serve as the commission’s Chief Executive Officer and oversee the implementation of its policies, decisions and strategies.

“The Secretary shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Commission responsible for implementation of policies, decisions and strategies of the Commission,” TSC stated in the advertisement.

Key Duties of the TSC Secretary/CEO

Beyond overseeing the commission’s operations, the Secretary will head the TSC secretariat, serve as the Accounting Officer and act as the custodian of all commission records.

The advertisement lists the following responsibilities:

• Execute decisions made by the Commission.
• Assign duties to and supervise commission staff.
• Facilitate and coordinate the execution of the Commission’s mandate.
• Ensure staff comply with public ethics and values.
• Ensure proper and diligent implementation of Part IV of the Teachers Service Commission Act.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Commission under the Act or other written law.

Requirements for TSC Secretary/CEO Position

To qualify for the position, applicants must meet specific academic, professional and constitutional requirements.

Candidates must have:

• Kenyan citizenship.
• A degree in education from a university recognised in Kenya.
• At least 10 years’ experience in education, administration and management, public administration, human resource or financial management.
• Compliance with the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
• The successful candidate will serve for five years and may qualify for reappointment for one further five-year term.

CEO Salary and Benefits

For the successful applicant, the advertisement sets a gross monthly salary of Ksh 698,600, alongside several benefits attached to the position.

The package includes:

• Monthly airtime allowance of Ksh 15,000.
• Annual leave allowance of Ksh 50,000.
• An official car of up to 3000cc.
• Medical cover for the officer, one spouse and up to four children below 25 years who are fully dependent on the officer.
• Service gratuity at 31% of annual pensionable emoluments for the term served.
• Group life insurance equivalent to three times annual pensionable emoluments.
• Group personal accident cover equivalent to three times annual pensionable emoluments.
• Car loan of up to Ksh 6 million.
• Mortgage of up to Ksh 30 million.

Ksh 30 Million Mortgage Benefit

Additionally, the car loan and mortgage will attract an interest rate of 3% per annum.

The mortgage will run for a maximum of 20 years, while the car loan will have a maximum repayment period of five years.

Under the terms outlined in the advertisement, the National Treasury will centrally administer and manage the car loan and mortgage schemes.

“The Car Loan and Mortgage shall be administered and managed centrally by the National Treasury, within existing applicable regulations to govern the schemes, and subject to the availability of funds,” TSC stated.

Meanwhile, the package provides security arrangements based on advice from the Inspector General of Police, and the successful candidate cannot convert the security provision into cash.

The successful candidate will also receive a daily subsistence allowance for local and foreign travel at rates set by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

According to the advertisement, applicants must submit their applications by Friday, October 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. East African Time.

Candidates must also provide clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and a recognised Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).

After the application period closes and TSC completes the shortlisting process, the commission will publish the names of all applicants and the interview schedule for shortlisted candidates in print media and on its website.

“Only shortlisted candidates shall be contacted for interview,” the commission stated.

TSC further warned that applicants who provide false information will commit an offence, as the commission will verify the submitted documents.

The commission will automatically disqualify candidates who engage in canvassing.
