Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed joined CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Presidents of the 54 Member Associations for the CAF Strategy Conference in Cabo Verde.
In a statement, Mohammed said the conference had set an ambitious goal of raising football standards across all member associations to world-class levels through targeted investments.
He said the plan would focus on strengthening national teams, professional and grassroots leagues, youth academies, school football, technical personnel and stadium infrastructure.
“The session set a bold objective to elevate football in all Member Associations to world-class standards through targeted investment in national teams, professional and grassroots leagues, youth academies, school football, technical personnel and stadium infrastructure,” he said.
How FKF President Plans to Implement Agenda in Kenya
Mohammed said the agenda of the conference aligns perfectly with Kenya’s football vision.
He stated that the goal confirms Kenya’s agenda and outlines a continental framework to professionalize Kenyan leagues and invest in the youth and infrastructure.
“This agenda speaks directly to our vision for Kenyan football. It validates our reform agenda and provides a continental framework to professionalize our leagues and invest in youth and infrastructure,” Mohammed added.
However, the FKF President noted that such ideas take time to properly implement.
Mohammed said he is working closely with CAF and FIFA to ensure Kenya benefits from the agenda.
“It takes time, consistency and tremendous focus to build structures that we shall be proud of as a country. I am leveraging my engagement with CAF and FIFA leadership to ensure Kenya benefits maximally from these initiatives,” he said.

Benni McCarthy AFCON Remarks
This comes after Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy said Kenya currently lacks the squad and resources to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
In a press conference, McCarthy said Kenya is still not at the level of Morocco, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and Guinea, who he named as powerhouses of African football.
“Even if you were to pay me millions and millions of dollars to win AFCON, I don’t think Kenya has the resources and the team strong enough to compete with Morocco, Egypt, Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal. Those are powerhouses; Guinea can also, you know, you have fantastic players. Those are the powerhouses in African football.” McCarthy said.

Harambee Stars International Break Performance
McCarthy’s admission came after Harambee Stars completed their latest international window without recording a win.
Kenya opened the window with a 1-1 draw against Eritrea before losing 1-0 to Guinea in their AFCON 2027 qualifier on October 1.
The team then travelled to Kigali, Rwanda, where they drew goallessly in a friendly match on October 5.
The results left Harambee Stars without a victory across their three matches during the international window.
