The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has issued a seven-day notice to revoke the licences of 21 free-to-air television stations.

In a Gazette notice published on October 9, 2026, the regulator listed the stations whose licences will be revoked under the Kenya Information and Communications Act, with the process expected to take effect seven days from the date of publication.

Affected stations include Holy Spirit’s TV, Greater Life Television, WTV, Ngoyoo TV, Nene TV, Assemblies of God Kenya Television Network, and Bethsaida Television.

Others named in the notice include Madaras TV, Competitive Broadcasting Services, Riigi TV, Mountain of Peace TV, Mshindi TV, Revival Wave TV, Kim Kim TV, Technique View Television, New Breed Connect TV, Shem TV, Ikengi TV, Thespy TV, Engako Television Network and Wendo TV.

All 21 stations hold commercial free-to-air television licences issued by the authority.

Four Broadcasting Licences Listed for Self-Termination

Separately, the regulator listed four broadcasting licences under a self-termination request, involving two service providers.

Landmerc Limited, which operates Tandaza FM, requested the termination of its commercial free-to-air FM licence.

Moreplex Television Limited also appeared in the notice with three licences covering Moreplex TV Kenya.

These comprise a terrestrial subscription licence, a subscription management services licence and a landing rights licence.

The four licences are listed separately from the 21 television stations facing revocation, bringing the total number of licences covered by the notice to 25.

CA Sets Seven-Day Deadline for Licence Revocation

The revocation is scheduled to take effect seven days from publication of the notice, meaning the deadline falls on October 16, 2026. The authority stated that any resources held under the affected licences would revert to the regulator once the revocation takes effect.

“Upon revocation of the licences, the licensees shall not be authorized to operate and provide the services as indicated in the table above,” the notice stated.

This directive means the 21 television stations will no longer be authorized to operate under the affected licences once the revocation takes effect.

The four licences listed under self-termination are a separate category and should not be counted among the 21 stations facing revocation.
