The Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) has announced vacancies for the positions of Professor and Associate Professor in various fields of science and engineering.

The advertisement targets visionary scholars who are willing to spearhead the research of the highest standards, promote innovation, and lead the postgraduate training at one of the leading institutes of science and technology in the country.

Kenya-AIST, which is a flagship project of Kenya Vision 2030, was established in 2022 in Konza Technopolis, Kenya, and based on Legal Order 130, is intended to be a research-intensive postgraduate university.

The institute also has the purpose of producing highly skilled scientists and engineers who can make Kenya a prosperous, industrial, and technologically advanced country.

Fourteen Flagship Programmes

The institute plans to launch 14 flagship postgraduate programmes focusing on cutting-edge fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Renewable Energy, Biotechnology, Nuclear Engineering, and Smart Infrastructure.

The vision of Kenya-AIST focuses on Innovative, Creative, and Excellent as the pillars of its academic model.

Vacant Positions and Research Areas

The positions are open across various departments such as Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, ICT Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Agricultural Biotechnology.

Areas of expertise being sought include Robotics and Automation, Renewable Energy, Cybersecurity, Polymer Engineering, Food Science, and Agricultural Biotechnology, among others.

Responsibilities and Expectations.

The successful applicants will be required to deliver academic leadership based on teaching, research, and innovation; initiate and/or lead outside partnerships; and direct postgraduate students.

Professors will be at the forefront in creating research collaborations, commercializing research products, and participating in national and international scientific conversations.

Associate Professors will assist in the construction and execution of teaching and research initiatives, besides guiding the students and early-career researchers.

Professor candidates (Kenya-AIST Grade 3) must have completed a PhD in a related discipline, have at least nine (9) years of research or university teaching experience, and demonstrate a strong record of publications, innovation, and mentorship.

Applicants to Associate Professor (Kenya-AIST Grade 4) should have a PhD and at least six (6) years of academic experience, including evidence of published research and contribution to innovation.
