A police officer was shot dead in the early hours of Monday, November 3, 2025, during an attack at the Deputy County Commissioner’s (DCC) office in Lokori, Turkana County.
Constable Chrispine Ouma was shot in the head and died instantly when unidentified assailants attacked the station around 4 a.m.
The officer and a colleague were guarding an examination container when the incident occurred.
Reports indicate that Ouma’s colleague heard a gunshot and, upon checking, found him dead and his AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds missing.
Police recovered a 7.62mm cartridge, which is typically fired from a rifle, at the scene. The attackers are believed to have targeted the officer’s weapon.
The body of the slain officer was later taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further police procedures.
Senior security officials visited the scene as investigations into the attack and robbery got underway.
Efforts to recover the stolen firearm are ongoing, with teams on the ground pursuing leads to apprehend the assailants.
