Foreigner Arrested in UK Following Murder of Kenyan Woman

The Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has confirmed the arrest of a British national in United Kingdom (UK) following the murder of Kenyan lady Agnes Wanjiru.

Wanjiru was murdered in 2012 and upon investigation, the foreigner is allegedly the mastermind behind the murder.

In a press statement released by DPP on November 8, 2025, suspect has been held in police custody in the UK waiting to be arraigned in London court on November 14th, 2025.

“The suspect has been remanded in police custody in the United Kingdom and is scheduled to appear before a London court on 14th November 2025 for bail hearing in relation to the extradition request by the DPP, followed by a case management session on 9th December 2025,” said DPP.

According to DPP, the arrest comes after extensive and coordinated effort between Kenyan and British authorities.

This development comes six weeks after the DPP revived formal extradition proceedings to ensure the 13-year old case is brought on board for transparency and accountability.

How ODPP Made The Arrest of Foreigner Happen

DPP secured arrest warrant from Nairobi court on September 16th, 2025 and arranged requisite extradition documentation to Office of Attorney General in Kenya therefore it can reach UK authorities.

“On 16th September 2025, the DPP successfully obtained an arrest warrant from a Nairobi court. Subsequently, on 9th October 2025, the DPP confirmed that all requisite extradition documentation had been formally transmitted to the Office of the Attorney General in Kenya for onward submission to the UK authorities,” DPP explained.

Work Of Agnes Wanjiru Before Her Death

She was 21 years old mother and freelance hairdresser.

Agnes was reportedly missing on March 31st, 2012 after being seen at the Lions Court Lodge in Nanyuki County.

Upon searching, her body was found in a septic tank at the same lodge on June 5th, 2012, incident that created public outrage and demands for justice.

ODPP has reaffirmed the public its commitment to pursuing justice for Agnes and her family in relation with UK authorities to ensure culprits are held accountable.
