Drivers and Boda Boda Riders Warned as Christmas Season Nears

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has issued a warning to all motorists ahead of the festive season.

In a statement on November 9, KURA Director General Silas Kinoti asked all drivers and boda boda operators to observe all road signs during this period.

Kinoti said the Authority expects motorists to obey the traffic rules as the government constructs the roads.

The Director stated that following the road signs is important to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow during this period.

Police Officers to Arrest Disobedient Motorists

He warned motorists caught going against these signs will be arrested by police officers and face legal action.

“Drivers observe all road signs as we head into the festival season. As the authority building these roads, I expect full discipline on site. Failure to follow road signs is a violation of the law and may lead to arrest by traffic officers. Safety is our shared responsibility. We are delivering the roads Kenya deserves,” Kinoti said.

Kinoti called on contractors to prioritize road safety through the proper placement of warning and directional signs at project sites.

“Contractors must install all required signage — no excuses. Our Engineers will enforce compliance,” he added.
