Kenyan gospel singer Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, widely known by her stage name Betty Bayo, has died while receiving treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi.

The news of her death was confirmed by Muthee Kiengei, a close friend and fellow gospel artist, who revealed that Bayo succumbed to Leukemia, a form of blood cancer, after a long battle with the disease.

“Betty lived a life of praising God and inspiring others. She has rested having served…My condolences to your Mum, Husband, Siblings, Friends, Music industry and to your beautifu children..” Kiengei said in a heartfelt message shared on social media, extending condolences to her family, friends, and fans.

Bayo rose to national fame with her hit song “Eleventh Hour,” which became a source of encouragement for many believers across Kenya. Her unique voice and faith-driven lyrics made her a household name in the gospel industry, earning her admiration from both fans and fellow artists.

Beyond her music, Bayo was known for her warm personality and deep faith. She balanced her life between ministry, business, and motherhood, often sharing messages of hope and resilience through her platforms.

Bayo leaves behind her husband, two children, and a lasting musical legacy that continues to inspire.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced by the family.
