The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested the Chairperson of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority over corruption allegations.
On November 14th, 2025, EACC conducted a search operation at the residence and offices of Josphat Gichunge Kabeabea.
The commission is tracking down corrupt leaders in a major crackdown across the country.
“The operation is part of ongoing investigations into allegations of bribery, extortion of local and foreign investors, and acquisition of unexplained wealth,” EACC stated.
The court ordered the arrest of Kabeabea after finding out he allegedly demanded Ksh 5 million from a Chinese investor who runs Honda Automotive Limited.
Kabeabea also threatened to arrest the investor for allegedly being involved in counterfeit trade if the bribe is not paid
“The search follows court orders secured after preliminary findings indicated that on 11th November 2025, Mr. Kabeabea allegedly demanded a Kes5 million bribe from a Chinese investor trading as Hongda Automotive Limited,” EACC explained.
