Absa Bank Kenya Names Yusuf Omari New CEO With Immediate Effect

Absa Bank Kenya has appointed Yusuf Omari as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.

The bank says Omari brings over two decades of leadership experience across finance, risk management, strategy, and executive management.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Yusuf Omari as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Absa Bank Kenya, with immediate effect,” said the statement.

He takes over the role as Absa seeks to advance its strategic priorities and deliver value to customers and its stakeholders.

His Experience

In addition, the bank said his experience positions him well to lead the institution into its next phase of growth and strengthen its long-term strategic ambitions.

“A seasoned banking executive with more than two decades of leadership experience spanning finance, treasury, risk management, governance, sustainability, strategy and transformation, and executive management, Yusuf is well positioned to lead the next chapter of our business,” read the statement.

Absa said the appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the bank as it continues to pursue growth, innovation and customer-focused banking solutions in an increasingly competitive financial sector.

The bank noted that Omari’s experience in strategy and transformation will be valuable as it navigates the evolving banking landscape, where institutions continue investing in digital services, sustainability initiatives and improved customer experiences.

“We are confident that his experience and leadership will continue to advance our strategic priorities in Kenya and deliver sustained value for our customers, clients, and stakeholders,” said the statement.
