Atommy Sifa Arrested for Allegedly Stealing Woman Rep’s Cow

Popular Benga artist Atommy Sifa now sits at Kendu Bay Police Station in Homa Bay County after police arrested him over an alleged livestock theft.

Police arrested the artist, also known as “Ayanyist,” alongside his DJ over claims that they stole a bull valued at Ksh 40,000 from the home of Homa Bay County Woman Representative Joyce Atieno Osogo, popularly known as Bensouda.

Investigators say the incident occurred on Monday while the complainant was away from her home.

However, Atommy Sifa strongly denied the allegations in court and maintained that he had no involvement in the alleged theft.

Woman Rep Testifies Against Atommy Sifa in Court

Meanwhile, Bensouda appeared before the Kendu Bay Law Courts and identified herself as the complainant in the case, explaining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“I’m the complainant. I didn’t set my people, because the suspect was not there. The incident happened at my home when I was not there on Monday,” she told the court.

She added that the missing items included the bull and four sacks of charcoal, noting that she received the information while at the airport.

“What disappeared was the bull and the four sacks of charcoal. I have come this morning because I wanted to ensure that Tony Sifa and the co-accused would hand over the bull,” she added.

Bensouda Seeks Withdrawal of Case

In a surprising twist, the Woman Representative asked the court to release Atommy Sifa and withdraw the case.

Even so, the court allowed the case to proceed and granted bond to the accused.

The popular Benga artist and his co-accused secured release on a bond of Ksh 100,000 each or an alternative cash bail of Ksh 20,000.

The arrest comes at a time when the artist has openly spoken about his past struggles. In 2023, Attomy Sifa revealed that he lost his band equipment and needed about Ksh 500,000 to rebuild and revive his music career.

He also expressed frustration over the lack of support from fellow artistes and said his struggles deepened after he released a controversial political song in 2017, which affected both his reputation and opportunities in the industry.
