Home Fibre offers by Kenya’s leading telecommunications provider, Safaricom, have been updated through faster internet speeds at reduced prices for multiple packages, in an effort to enhance its leadership position in the fixed broadband market segment within the country.
The upgrades in its service packages are geared towards not only attracting new customers but also meeting demands for increased bandwidth among existing subscribers.
Through the updates, its new packages will offer added value by providing improved internet speeds at reduced costs.
Developments came in the backdrop of a growing need for streaming services, work-from-home activities, gaming, and other applications of fast and reliable internet within cities such as Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kisumu.
According to the new package structure, Safaricom has launched four packages: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Diamond, apart from a superior 1000 Mbps package.
In its update, the new packages are designed to ensure customers get “connected” with added flexibility and capabilities.
The new tariffs introduced by the company include an affordable bronze package, which costs Ksh 2,250 and provides customers with access to internet speeds of up to 40 Mbps.
This product is geared towards basic internet services, enabling customers to browse the internet, access social media accounts and stream video content in SD quality.
However, the package does not allow customers to engage in CCTV streaming and cannot be used for multi-device streaming and superfast downloads.
Safaricom has also enhanced its silver package, which enables customers to access the internet at 60 Mbps for the cost of Ksh 3,075 per month.

Valid for 30 days, the product provides customers with the ability to engage in various internet activities, including gaming, streaming and downloading videos in 4K format.
Finally, the company has introduced its diamond package, priced at Ksh 9,375, which gives access to speeds of up to 500 Mbps.
Besides all these tiers, Safaricom still offers its premium tier, which comes in at 1000 Mbps for a price of Ksh 20, 000.
