Traffic along the Nairobi Expressway near the Ole Sereni area was temporarily disrupted after a vehicle burst into flames, with CCTV footage of the incident circulating online on the night of May 31 2026.

The footage captured the moment the vehicle caught fire along a section of the expressway near the Southern Bypass exit, with flames and thick smoke quickly engulfing the car as other motorists slowed down near the scene.

The footage shows a car that was driving at a high speed losing control and hitting a pillar, then later caught fire and started burning.

According to reports, the incident took place near the Southern Bypass Entrance B after the vehicle reportedly developed mechanical problems before losing control and catching fire.

No Casualties Were Reported

The expressway operator said patrol teams working together with police officers responded to the incident and safely evacuated three occupants before containing the fire.

No injuries were reported during the incident, but the car was almost completely destroyed.

Videos shared on social media showed the vehicle completely engulfed in flames as smoke went into the air, attracting the attention of motorists using the busy highway.

Traffic flow along part of the expressway was briefly affected as emergency teams cleared the scene.
