A burial dispute turned chaotic in Nairobi on Thursday after the family of Rachel Wandeto left a morgue without her body.
The family disagreed over burial rights and documentation, which triggered confusion at the final stages of the release process.
The standoff unfolded at Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home along Mbagathi Way, opposite Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi.
Relatives arrived early to collect the body of gospel singer Rachel Wandeto for burial in Kerugoya.
However, disagreements delayed the release and quickly escalated into a tense confrontation at the facility.
Consequently, mourners experienced distress and uncertainty as negotiations failed to produce an agreement.

Meanwhile, burial plans had already scheduled the ceremony in Kerugoya for May 28.
However, disagreements between her maternal relatives and her husband of 14 years disrupted the arrangements.
The husband’s family insisted that he should participate in the burial process.
“They are denying my brother the chance to bury his wife, yet they had a 14-year marriage,” his sister said a couple of days ago.
“The family said he had not completed paying the dowry,” she added.
The standoff escalated at the morgue and left mourners stranded and emotionally exhausted.
Eventually, the family left without the body and proceeded to Kerugoya for a symbolic ceremony.
