Citizen TV Reporter Resigns to Pursue Elective Position

Citizen TV reporter John Wanyama has resigned from Royal Media Services (RMS) and announced plans to vie for the Malava Constituency parliamentary seat.

Wanyama submitted his resignation on July 3, 2026, and gave RMS a one-month notice. According to the resignation acceptance letter, his last working day was set for August 4, 2026.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to resign from my position to pursue a new path in public service by vying for the position of Member of Parliament for Malava Constituency,” Wanyama said in his resignation letter.

Wanyama said the decision marks an exciting new chapter in his journey as he seeks to serve the community in a different capacity.

He also thanked RMS for giving him an opportunity to grow as a journalist, tell impactful stories and contribute to the organisation’s mission.

Meanwhile, Wanyama expressed his appreciation to his colleagues and the management team for their support and guidance throughout his tenure.

“I sincerely appreciate the support, guidance, and camaraderie I have received from my colleagues and the management team throughout my tenure. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman and Vice Chair, Mr. and Mrs. S.K. Macharia, and to the Managing Director, Wachira Waruru, for their visionary leadership and mentorship. The experience I have gained, the skills I have developed, and the professional relationships I have built will remain invaluable throughout my career,” he said.

Furthermore, Wanyama pledged to ensure a smooth transition during his notice period. He said he would complete pending assignments and hand over his responsibilities and company equipment in an organised and timely manner.

RMS Accepts Wanyama’s Resignation

RMS accepted Wanyama’s resignation in a letter dated July 14, 2026, signed by Human Resources Director Rose Wanjohi.

The company confirmed August 4 as his last working day and stated that his earned and unutilised leave balance stood at 3.5 days as of July 3, 2026.

Additionally, RMS instructed Wanyama to complete the required clearance process and prepare a proper handover report before taking his terminal leave.

“You will be expected to complete the staff clearance form, do a proper handing over report and give a copy to your supervisor and HR for your personal file before you take your terminal leave,” the company stated.

RMS also asked Wanyama to complete an exit questionnaire and organise the clearance of any outstanding liabilities before leaving the organisation.

Finally, the company thanked Wanyama for his service and wished him well in his future endeavours.

“On behalf of Royal Media Services Ltd I wish to thank you for the time and service rendered while you worked at Royal Media Services Ltd and wish you well in your future endeavors,” the company said.

According to the acceptance letter, RMS will issue Wanyama with the relevant exit documents, including a certificate of service, after he completes the clearance process.
