CS Ogamba Announces New Appointments and Changes in Universities and TVET Management Boards

Education Cabinet Secretary (CS)Julius Migos Ogamba has announced a series of appointments and re-appointments affecting public universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions across the country.
The changes, made under the Universities Act and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Act, took effect on May 22, 2026.
At Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, Dr. James Kariuki was re-appointed as the Chairperson of the university council.
The CS also re-appointed Esther Nyamoko, Pauline Jeruto, and Linet K. Muganda as non-executive members of the council for another three-year term.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education reappoints,” the gazette notice stated.
Ogamba Re-Appoints Meru University Council Members
At Meru University of Science and Technology, Janet Afande Ominde, Martin Kinoti, Jacob Kwaba, and Sylvester Kibiwott Kinyor were re-appointed as council members.
The four will serve for another three years beginning May 22, 2026.
New Leadership at Makueni University College
The government also made fresh appointments at Makueni University College.
Professor Peter Kiuluku was appointed as the non-executive chairperson of the council.
Dennis Kimakia, Godfrey Sawenja, Nelly Bosir, and Joel Kipkemoi Kemei were also appointed as council members for a three-year term.

Re-Appointments at Maseno and Eldoret Universities
At Maseno University, Professor Naftali Omolo Ongati was re-appointed as chairperson of the council.
Dr. Matilda Chemutai Sang, Darius Getanda Isaboke, and Ponyochi Kunyobo also secured new terms as council members.
Meanwhile, Dr. Parmain Ole Narikae was re-appointed as a member of the council at the University of Eldoret.
Machakos and Laikipia Universities Affected
The Education CS also appointed Waswa Dick as a member of the council at Machakos University.
At Laikipia University, Paul Bore, Marie Wanjeri Mugo, and Sereya Beatrice Maitoyo were re-appointed as council members for another three years.

Changes in TVET Institutions
Several national polytechnics have also received new appointments and reappointments.
The CS appointed Ahmed Issa as a council member at Kericho National Polytechnic.
At Sigalagala National Polytechnic, the CS reappointed Dr. Geoffrey Kimutai as a council member.
The CS also appointed Josephat Karoki Mwaniki as a council member at Meru National Polytechnic.
All appointments and reappointments will run for a period of three years starting May 22, 2026.
