DCI Responds to Gachagua’s Claims on Police Officers Linked to Dr Mutiso’s Murder

DCI breaks silence on the remarks that were made by former president and DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua about them allegedly participating in criminal conduct.

According to a statement by the DCI those allegations are false and ill intended and they have also asked Gachagua to provide evidence to back those accusations.

“The DCI categorically states that it does not sanction, facilitate, conceal, or participate in criminal conduct of any kind, regardless of the identity or status of any person involved,” read part of the statement.

DCI maintain that they are a professional investigative agency that works to solve crimes and in according to the constitution of Kenya.

Allegations Made

Additionally the DCI notes that other allegations like specific cases of alleged abductions, disappearances, deaths, police shootings, attacks against journalists and other serious offences have also been made.

“In one of the mentioned cases involving investigations into the murder of Reverend Julius Ndumia Ngari of PCEA Tabuga Church in Nakuru North Sub-County, which occurred on the night of May 3, 2026, the DCI has made considerable progress, with two suspects, Felix Odinga Okumu and Berryly Nafua Atenyo, arrested and arraigned before the Nakuru Law Courts,” read the statement.

In addition DCI say on the same case armed gangsters were fatally shot during an intelligence led operation along the Eldoret Kiplombe Soy road after engaging in a gun battle.

On the other hand in the case involving the fatal shooting of Dr. Victoria Mutiso, progress has been made and details released to the public as other suspects are being looked for.

Investigations

On the same note the DCI has rejected any suggestions that its investigations are to serve political interests saying that their investigations have always been guided by evidence of the law and not political considerations.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has warned against using the media to conduct investigations, saying it will not disclose sensitive operational information on ongoing inquiries.

Meanwhile the DCI has urged members of the public, including former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, to submit information on alleged criminal activities through official investigative channels
