DCI Summons MP Linked to Violent Linda Mwananchi Convoy Attack in Kisii

MP Summoned as Keumbu Attack Probe Widens

Nyaribari Chache MP Zaheer Jhanda has been summoned to appear before detectives at the Kisii County Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office as investigations into the violent attacks at Keumbu continue.

The National Police Service (NPS) said the MP was summoned on Sunday morning July 5,2026 in connection with the ongoing investigations.

The development came as police announced the arrest of four more suspects, bringing the total number of people in custody to seven.

According to the NPS, the latest arrests followed a security operation led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at Keumbu and detectives from DCI Kisii Central.

The operation is part of efforts to investigate the violent attacks that occurred at Keumbu along the Kisii-Keroka Road on Friday, July 3, 2026 during the Linda Mwananchi rally.

Police said investigations are still ongoing as officers pursue more leads to establish what happened and identify any other people who may have taken part in the incident.

Police Vow to Continue Investigations of the Kisii Attack 

The National Police Service said it remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue taking action against anyone found responsible for threatening public safety or disrupting public order.

In its statement, the NPS said,”The National Police Service remains resolute in its commitment to protecting lives and property, and will continue to take decisive action against anyone who threatens public safety or disrupts public order.”

The service also thanked members of the public for cooperating with investigators.

Appeal for Information

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station or use the toll-free numbers 999, 911, or 0800 722 203 (FichuaKwaDCI).

Members of the public can also send information through the DCI WhatsApp line 0709 570 000.

As investigations continue, authorities are expected to determine the circumstances surrounding the Keumbu attacks and whether more arrests will be made.
