Police officers from Holo Police Station in Kisumu West Sub-County foiled a burglary attempt in the early hours of Friday morning, May 8, 2026. The swift operation followed a distress call that led to the arrest of one suspect at Holo Trading Centre.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), a security guard first raised the alarm after noticing suspicious activity at a business premise. Officers responded immediately and moved to the scene.

“The officers responded to a distress call from a security guard and, upon arrival at the scene, discovered a suspect on the rooftop of a premises who had already dismantled a section of the roofing to gain entry,” the NPS said.

After arriving, the officers confirmed forced entry through the roof. They quickly assessed the situation and moved in to contain the suspect.

The suspect, who had already accessed the rooftop, tried to escape arrest. Officers issued commands for him to surrender. However, he resisted.

“The suspect, found armed with a sword, ignored initial orders to surrender and charged at the responding officers but eventually surrendered,” the police stated.

Despite the resistance, officers managed to subdue and arrest the suspect. They also recovered a sword and a metal bar at the scene. Investigators secured the items as exhibits for further analysis.
