FKF Launches New CAF Coaching Courses to Strengthen Coach Education and Player Development

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has officially launched a new cycle of CAF Coaching Courses, confirming its commitment to improving coach education and developing football talent across the country.

The courses, which began on Monday, July 6, are being held in Nairobi and Nakuru.

They include CAF A, CAF B, CAF C, as well as refresher courses for coaches seeking to renew their licenses.

According to FKF, the new coaching programme is designed to:

  • Standardize coaching excellence by aligning coaches with current CAF regulations and modern coaching methods
  • Strengthen Kenya’s talent pipeline by improving player development from grassroots football to the elite level
  • Promote continuous professional development by ensuring licensed coaches remain updated on modern tactics, technology, safeguarding, and best practices

Why the CAF Courses Matter

FKF noted that football continues to evolve, making quality coaching more important than ever.

“The quality of coaching on the training ground determines the quality of football fans see in stadiums,” the federation said.

The federation also highlighted CAF’s requirement that coaching licenses issued more than three years ago must be renewed through approved refresher courses.

As a result, the courses are expected to help coaches remain compliant with CAF regulations while supporting career growth and improving standards across Kenyan football.

Investing in the Future of Kenyan Football

FKF believes investing in coaches will have a direct impact on the country’s football future.

“By investing in our coaches, FKF is investing in the next generation of Kenyan players, the competitiveness of our clubs, and the future of our national teams,” the federation stated.

FKF President Hussein Mohammed welcomed the start of the new coaching cycle, describing coach education as one of the federation’s key priorities.

In a message shared on X, he emphasized that well-trained coaches are essential for producing better players, stronger clubs, and more competitive national teams, adding that continuous learning will help Kenyan football meet CAF standards and keep pace with the modern game.
