Police in Kilimani have launched investigations following the sudden death of Dr. Obwaka, who arrived at a Nairobi hospital on May 1, 2026 at around 1900 hours already dead.
According to an official security report, the Security Office received information from the Accident & Emergency (A&E) Department about a patient brought in dead (BID) by a female companion. Hospital staff later confirmed the condition on arrival.
Officers from Kilimani Police Station responded immediately after receiving the alert.
Investigators established that Ms. Beatrice Wangari transported Dr. Obwaka to the hospital.
“Dr.Obwaka had been transported to the hospital by Ms. Beatrice Wangari,” the report stated.
During interrogation, Ms. Wangari said she had known Dr. Obwaka since 2015.
“She initially knew him through her personal gynecologist, and their relationship developed further following the death of her husband,” the report read.

Ms. Wangari narrated that Dr. Obwaka contacted her at about 1042 hours, informing her that he was travelling to Kitengela to visit her. He continued updating her on his movement and at around 1320 hours said he had arrived at Quickmart Kitengela OBC Plaza.
She further stated that Dr. Obwaka later arrived at her residence, where she prepared rice and meat, which they both ate. After the meal, he requested water.
According to her account, his condition changed shortly after.
“Shortly after taking two sips, he reportedly became drowsy and began experiencing difficulty in breathing. He then asked for windows to be opened as he struggled to breathe,” she narrated.
Ms. Wangari called a neighbour, Mr. Shadrack, who rushed in to assist. He checked Dr. Obwaka but found no pulse. He then helped arrange transport to hospital.

Mr. Shadrack drove Ms. Wangari’s vehicle as they escorted the ambulance to hospital, where doctors confirmed Dr. Obwaka was brought in dead on arrival.
Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death as officers continue with inquiries at Kitengela.
