Gachagua Allied MP Arrested by DCI Officers After Sleeping at Citizen TV Studio

Mukurweini Member of Parliament (MP) John Kaguchia has been arrested by DCI after sleeping at Citizen TV studio on August 3, 2026.

The MP says he was forced to sleep at Citizen TV studio on Sunday, August 2, 2026, after his show because he believed hooded men were waiting outside to arrest him.

“After my Kiririmbi Show this evening, a contingent of Police have surrounded Royal Media Studios and erected road blocks with intentions of arresting me! I will NOT BE INTIMIDATED whatsoever,” he wrote on social media.

John said on August 3 2026 that he was being arrested because of what he said were twisted remarks that he made on August 1 2026 in a rally in Kieni in Nyeri.

His Arrest

Additionally John accused government strategist Dennis Itumbi together with other members of parliament from Mt. Kenya of spreading the narrative which has led to his arrest.

“I saw a lot of hype yesterday by the government about my political utterances that I did on Saturday in one of the political rallies, which I saw were being pushed as being inflammatory. That is an issue that falls under the purview of NCIC,” he said.

In addition he explained that he has not been summoned by the DCI but only received social media posts from Dennis Itumbi and that he has no problem to present himself before NCIC.

“I have not received any summons all I have received is social media posts from Itumbi and some of the other government-leaning MPs which were also twisted to fit a certain narrative. I have no problem presenting myself to NCIC,” the MP said.

Remarks He Made

While in the rally in Nyeri John warned the residents of Mt. Kenya that they will face extreme consequences if they vote for president William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

He spoke in Kikuyu saying that those who will vote fir Ruto in 2027 will be traced to their homes and will be rooted out.

Daniel Kandie who is the regional DCI commander was also part of the contingent of officers who arrived to arrest him said that John will be taken to regional DCI offices in Milimani for further investigations.

However other reports say that John was eventually transferred to DCI main headquarters in Kiambu road.
