Fresh Twist in Victoria Mutiso Murder as Police Arrest Two More Suspects, Recover Stolen Range Rover

Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the murder of researcher Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, marking a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.

The two suspects, identified as Angela Mulwa and Nelson Masiga, were arrested on Saturday, August 1, and are expected to be arraigned on Monday, August 3.

Their arrest brings the total number of suspects in custody to four.

Detectives also recovered a Range Rover believed to have been stolen from Mutiso during an eviction linked to a disputed 21-acre piece of land in Mlolongo.

The vehicle was found hidden behind a house associated with one of the suspects in Karen.

According to investigators, the Range Rover is one of five vehicles that allegedly disappeared during the eviction.

Officers found that the vehicle had been partly destroyed from the inside, with signs that tracking devices installed in it had been tampered with.

Police are still searching for a Toyota Prado that also went missing after the eviction. Detectives believe the Prado was at the scene when Mutiso was shot dead.

Suspects Linked to Property Dispute

Investigators say Angela Mulwa is the daughter of the late doctor’s co-wife, while Nelson Masiga is a broker who had allegedly been hired to find a buyer for the disputed property.

The two suspects were first booked at Karen Police Station before being transferred to Mlolongo Police Station, where they remained in custody ahead of their court appearance.

Mutiso Murder Linked to Multi-Billion Shilling Land Dispute

Police believe the murder is connected to a long-running legal battle over a 21-acre parcel of land in Mlolongo valued at more than Ksh2 billion.

Reports indicate that Rose Mbithe, who remains the main suspect in the case, had obtained a court order to evict people occupying the land after reportedly securing a buyer.

The deceased’s former husband is also said to have moved to court seeking a share of the matrimonial property. The case is still before the court.

During the eviction, several vehicles and important documents reportedly disappeared.

DCI Continues Investigations

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said it launched investigations immediately after Mutiso was fatally shot on July 29 at around 9 a.m. at the junction of Mbagathi Link Road and Mawenzi Road in Upper Hill after she had reportedly requested an Uber ride.

The agency said homicide detectives and forensic experts took over the investigation soon after the incident.

In an earlier statement, it said,”The DCI remains committed to conducting a thorough, impartial and expeditious investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.”

The agency also urged members of the public not to spread unverified information as investigations continue.

“Members of the public are urged to exercise restraint and refrain from speculation or the dissemination of unverified information, as this may prejudice the ongoing investigation.”
