Kisumu East Sub-County police officers have made a critical breakthrough in their ongoing security operations by arresting a key suspect in a robbery with violence case reported in the region.
The arrest was made possible following an extensive process that relied on intelligence gathered after the public gave vital information, leading to this success.
“Police officers in Kisumu East Sub-County have successfully apprehended a key suspect linked to a robbery with violence incident reported in the area,” the National Police Service announced in a press release.
“The suspects were arrested following reliable tips and swift tactical actions that were launched early in the morning today. The officers from Chiga Police Station arrested the suspect at his residence in Kamrongo Village, Chiga Sub-location,” the press release added.
Authorities revealed that the operation was executed in the early hours, allowing officers to catch the suspect off guard at his residence.
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been publicly disclosed, is believed to have played a central role in the violent robbery incident that had raised concerns among residents.
“During the arrest, the officers recovered a red Honda 125 motorcycle (Registration No. KMGK 052P) believed to have been used to escape from the scene of the robbery,” police confirmed.
Investigators are now focusing on forensic and testimonial evidence to strengthen the case ahead of prosecution, with the recovered motorcycle expected to play a key role in court proceedings.

Following the arrest, the suspect was taken into custody at Chiga Police Station, where processing procedures are currently underway.
Law enforcement officials indicated that the individual will be arraigned in court once the investigations are complete.
“The suspect was escorted to the station and placed in custody, pending processing and arraignment in court, and the motorcycle has been securely kept as an exhibit,” the police stated.

The National Police Service congratulated community members for assisting in the arrest process, noting that cooperation between the community and police continues to be an essential element of policing.
“The National Police Service commends the residents of the area for providing information that led to the successful recovery and arrest,” the statement read.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging continued vigilance among citizens.
