‘I Have No Interest in 2027’: Korir Sing’oei Dismisses Speculation Over 2027 Political Bid

PS Korir Singo'ei Breaks Silence on 2027 Political Claims

Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’oei has dismissed claims that he is preparing to contest an elective seat in the 2027 General Election.

PS issued the clarification on Monday, July 20, after a social media user linked his remarks at a development event in Trans Nzoia County to an alleged political campaign.

During a public event, Singo’ei highlighted several government projects that have been completed or are planned for the area.

He said the government had opened new classrooms at Siyambe, Kobos and Lelkina schools and would soon launch more projects.

“Today I was at Siambe School, where we opened four classrooms. I also visited Kobos School, where we opened more classrooms. I went to Lelkina, where we opened additional classrooms. And now we are here to officially open this school.”

He also announced that Maridadi Secondary School would receive a school bus within two months, while Koseta Secondary School would get a digital hub. In addition, he said the government would soon launch the construction of a tarmac road linking Maridadi, Kobos and Kapkoi.

Sing’oei credited the projects to President William Ruto’s administration.

“None of these projects would have been possible, my fellow Kenyans, without the leadership of President William Ruto.”

PS Korir Defends Government’s Education Agenda

In his speech, Sing’oei said the Kenya Kwanza administration had made education its top priority by investing in classrooms, teachers, school capitation and learning equipment.

He praised successive administrations for strengthening the country’s education system.

“President William Ruto is investing in human capital. Kenya has one of the strongest pools of human capital in Africa. From President Mwai Kibaki to President Uhuru Kenyatta, and now President William Ruto, all of them have been fully committed to developing our education system.”

He also highlighted the government’s NYOTA Programme, saying it was helping young people grow their businesses and access employment opportunities.

According to Sing’oei, the government recently disbursed Ksh200 million to more than 9,500 young people from Trans Nzoia, West Pokot and Turkana counties, with each beneficiary receiving Ksh50,000.

He added that Kenyan embassies had been directed to identify job opportunities abroad for skilled Kenyan youth.

Investment Remarks Fuel Political Speculation

Sing’oei also spoke about attracting investors to Kenya, saying large investments could create thousands of jobs for young people.

Referring to the proposed Dangote refinery project, he said the investment could be worth about $10 billion and create around 60,000 direct jobs.

“Ladies and gentlemen, isn’t that leadership? That is the kind of leadership we need.”

His remarks prompted reactions on social media, with some users suggesting he had begun positioning himself for a political seat ahead of the 2027 elections.

Among them was X user Saddique Shaban, who posted,”Korir has started campaigning for a political seat in 2027. Abu isn’t even hiding it.”

He Rejects 2027 Election Claims

Responding to the speculation later on July 20, Sing’oei firmly denied having any plans to seek an elective position in 2027.

He said his focus remains on serving the country in his current role and supporting the government’s development agenda.

“Just to be clear: I have no interest in seeking any elective office in 2027. I am singularly focused on advancing Kenya’s interests in my current position, advancing select community initiatives and supporting the realization of the government’s transformative agenda. Treat any information to the contrary as false.”
