JKUAT Issues Fresh Directives to First-Year Students Seeking Course Transfers

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has opened up more course options for first-year students considering a change of programme.

In a notice to students, the university listed additional degree programmes available for intra- and inter-school transfers, allowing students to explore other areas of study within the institution.

The new options span engineering, health sciences, agriculture, technology, business, environmental studies and other specialised fields.

Students interested in engineering can choose from programmes such as BSc Chemical Engineering, BSc Mechanical Engineering, BSc Electrical and Electronics Engineering, BSc Electrical and Computer Engineering and BSc Aerospace Engineering.

Other technical options include BSc Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, BSc Telecommunication and Information Engineering, BSc Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering, BSc Materials and Metallurgical Engineering and BSc Applied Bioengineering.

Architecture and construction-related programmes are also available, including Bachelor of Architecture, Bachelor of Construction Management, Bachelor of Quantity Surveying, Bachelor of Real Estate and Bachelor of Landscape Architecture.

Health and Science Students Get More Options

For students looking to move into health and biological sciences, JKUAT has included BSc Medical Laboratory Science, BSc Occupational Therapy and BSc Physiotherapy among the available programmes.

The list also features BSc Microbiology, BSc Biotechnology, BSc Applied Biology, BSc Zoology and BSc Genomic Science, offering alternatives for students interested in laboratory, research and biological sciences.

Agriculture remains another major area covered by the additional programmes. Options include BSc Agriculture, BSc Horticulture, BSc Crop Protection, BSc Aquaculture Technology and BSc Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Students interested in environmental and natural resource management can consider BSc Energy and Environmental Technology, BSc Land Resource Planning and Management, BSc Renewable Energy and Environmental Physics and BSc Environmental Horticulture and Landscaping Technology.

JKUAT has further listed programmes in agricultural economics and agribusiness, including BSc Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, BSc Agribusiness Management and Enterprise Development and BSc Agribusiness Economics and Food Industry Management.

Technology, Business and Other Programmes

Technology and business have also been included among the alternatives available to first-year students.

The programmes listed in this category include BSc Information Technology, BSc Business Computing, Bachelor of Business Information Technology, BSc Entrepreneurship, BSc Business Innovation Technology and Management and BSc Project Management.

Students can also explore specialised programmes such as BSc Geomatic Engineering and Geospatial Information Systems, BSc Geospatial Information Science, BSc Marine Engineering, BSc Nautical Science and BSc Animal Health Production and Processing.

Nutraceutical Science and Technology is another option on the list, alongside programmes in fisheries, aquaculture and environmental studies.
