Kenya Met Lists Regions Expected to Receive Rainfall Between June 2 and 8

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has listed areas expected to receive rainfall and experience cool weather during the first week of June.
In its weather forecast released on Monday, June 1, 2026, covering the period between June 2 and June 8, Kenya Met said rainfall is likely to continue in the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the Coastal region, and parts of North-eastern Kenya.
The weatherman also said cool and cloudy conditions are expected in parts of the Highlands, east of the Rift Valley, and the South-eastern Lowlands. These conditions may occasionally be interrupted by sunny intervals and light rainfall.
According to the forecast, daytime temperatures above 30°C are likely in the Coastal region, parts of the South-eastern Lowlands, and northern Kenya.
Meanwhile, night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected in some areas of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, the Central Rift Valley, and areas around Mount Kilimanjaro.
Areas Expected to Receive Rainfall According to Kenya Met
In the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, mornings are expected to be generally sunny, although a few places may experience occasional rainfall. Afternoon and night showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, are likely in several areas.
Counties in this region include Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, and Narok.
Meanwhile, Turkana and Samburu counties are expected to experience sunny conditions during the day, with partly cloudy nights.

Weather Forecast for Nairobi and its Environs
For the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi and surrounding areas, mornings are likely to be cloudy with occasional rainfall before giving way to sunny intervals later in the day.
Afternoon and night showers are also expected in a few places.
Other counties in this region include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, and Tharaka Nithii.

North-eastern and Coastal Regions
In North-eastern Kenya, which includes Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties, sunny conditions are expected during the day, while nights will be partly cloudy.
However, some areas may experience morning rainfall and isolated afternoon and night showers.
For the South-eastern Lowlands, including Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta counties, cloudy mornings are expected in areas bordering the Highlands East of the Rift Valley before conditions clear up later in the day. A few places may also receive afternoon showers.
At the Coast, including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Kwale, and the Tana Delta, occasional showers are expected in the morning, afternoon, and night, with rainfall likely to spread to several areas during the week.
