Kenya Railways has issued a public notice warning passengers against an increase in fraudulent train booking schemes targeting customers seeking Madaraka Express Passenger Service tickets.

The State corporation cautioned that fraudsters are impersonating Kenya Railways through fake websites, social media pages and individuals, deceiving unsuspecting members of the public into making payments through unauthorized channels.

The corporation said the fraudulent activities have resulted in financial losses for passengers and urged anyone who has fallen victim to report the matter immediately.

Kenya Railways emphasized that investigations are underway in collaboration with security agencies to track down those behind the scams.

“Kenya Railways wishes to notify members of the public that fraudulent websites, social media pages and individuals are impersonating the Corporation and deceiving customers into making payments through fraudulent channels, resulting in financial loss,” Kenya Railways stated.

Victims Urged to Report Fraud Immediately

Kenya Railways appealed to members of the public who may have lost money through fraudulent bookings to report the incidents without delay to facilitate investigations and possible recovery efforts.

To safeguard passengers, Kenya Railways reiterated that Madaraka Express Passenger Service tickets should only be purchased through officially recognized booking platforms.

“Please note Madaraka Express Passenger Service tickets should ONLY be booked through the official Kenya Railways booking channels,” Kenya Railways stated.
