Kenya to Host Another Global Event Months After Africa Forward Summit

Kenya is set to host another global event later this year, months after the African Forward Summit, with Nairobi hosting the Fourth COMESA-IRSK Annual Conference, scheduled for November 11 to 13, 2026.

According to organizers, the conference is expected to bring together approximately 180 delegates, including policymakers, diplomats, scholars, business leaders, representatives of regional economic communities, United Nations agencies, and civil society organizations from across Africa and beyond.

This three-day conference will focus on strengthening Africa’s institutional architecture as the continent navigates growing geopolitical shifts and global fragmentation.

Organizers say the forum will provide a platform for dialogue on how regional and continental institutions can better promote peace, resilience, and sustainable transformation.

Theme Of The Event

Held under the theme “Harnessing Africa’s Continental and Regional Institutions for Peace, Resilience and Transformation Amid a Fragmenting Global Order,” the conference will feature keynote addresses.

It will also include roundtable discussions, panel sessions, research presentations, and networking engagements aimed at fostering collaboration among regional stakeholders.

The event is being jointly organised by the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the International Relations Society of Kenya (IRSK), the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Kenya, the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) and the Australian High Commission in Kenya.

Further, the organisers say, discussions will place particular emphasis on the role of regional economic communities and continental institutions in conflict prevention, peacebuilding, regional integration, economic resilience, climate governance and development financing.

Agendas

These areas are expected to shape conversations on Africa’s response to emerging challenges within an evolving international landscape.

A key outcome of the conference will be policy recommendations and strategic priorities intended to support regional and continental institutions.

Additionally, the recommendations will be shared with COMESA member states, the African Union, regional economic communities and development partners to inform future policy discussions.

Further, the conference will also serve as a pre-summit engagement ahead of the COMESA Heads of State Summit, with organisers noting that deliberations may contribute to regional dialogue and help shape discussions at the summit.

This year’s edition also marks COMESA’s 30-year milestone, providing an opportunity to reflect on the regional bloc’s legacy and future direction.
