KRA Announces 12-Hour System Disruption

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced scheduled maintenance of its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) on Sunday, September 6, 2026.

According to a notice dated September 5, KRA said the maintenance is scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. and run until 6:00 p.m. on the same day.

“Please be advised that there will be a scheduled maintenance of iCMS from Sunday 6th September, 2026, 6:00 AM to Sunday 6th September, 2026, 6:00PM,” read part of the notice.

KRA iCMS System to Be Down for Maintenance on Sunday

KRA advised users of the system to take note of the scheduled maintenance period, which will last for 12 hours.

However, the authority did not provide further details on the specific maintenance activities being undertaken, or whether particular iCMS services would be unavailable during the period.

Additionally, KRA apologised to members of the public and other users who may be affected by the scheduled maintenance.

“We regret any inconvenience caused,” the authority stated.

The scheduled iCMS maintenance comes a day after KRA announced plans to introduce a new stock management functionality for businesses using TIMS and eTIMS.

In a public notice issued on Friday, September 4, 2026, the authority said businesses would be required to maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records in line with existing laws.

The new functionality is intended to ensure that stock records accurately reflect the movement of goods, including purchases, sales, transfers, returns, adjustments, and other forms of disposal.

KRA to Hold Consultative Forums

To support the implementation, KRA will hold consultative engagement forums with businesses and other relevant stakeholders. The forums are expected to commence in September 2026.

Through these engagements, KRA will explain how the stock management functionality works and allow taxpayers to seek clarification on its implementation.

Furthermore, businesses will be able to share challenges they encounter during implementation and submit recommendations that could guide appropriate enhancements.

“To support a smooth and practical implementation of the electronic invoicing stock management functionality, KRA will hold consultative engagement forums with the business community and other key stakeholders,” KRA stated.

As a result, KRA expects the consultations to help create a practical approach to implementing the functionality while minimising disruption to business operations.
