Previous Fires at Kariobangi Industries
Kariobangi Light Industries has recorded several major fire incidents in recent years, renewing concerns about fire safety in the densely packed industrial area.
In February 2025, a fire broke out at Kariobangi Light Industries along Outering Road after a blaze reportedly started at a timber shop.

Later in October 2025, another fire erupted at a chemical building in Kariobangi North. Workers and residents in nearby premises fled as thick smoke filled the area, while firefighters battled to bring the flames under control.
More recently, a huge blaze hit Kariobangi Light Industries along the Kwa Mbao line in May 2026.
Firefighters and residents reportedly struggled to contain the flames as densely packed workshops and flammable materials made the response more challenging.
Fire Raises Fresh Concerns
Beyond these incidents, the area’s congestion and closely packed structures can make it difficult for emergency teams to access affected premises and contain rapidly spreading fires.
