Ministry Of Gender Announces Vacancies Including Chairperson Position: How to Apply

The Ministry of Gender, Culture and Children Services has advertised vacancies for the positions of Chairperson and members of its Audit Committee, listing the qualifications, duties, and application procedures for interested candidates.

According to the notice dated April 28 2026, the Chairperson must be independent of National Government entities, he or she should possess strong business and leadership skills, and must not be a political office holder.

Applicants are required to hold a degree from a recognized university and have at least seven years of experience in audit, financial management, or accounting.

They are also required to have membership in a professional body in good standing, along side knowledge and experience in risk management.

Candidates applying must also meet the integrity requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.

The Chairperson’s responsibilities will include ensuring proper documentation of audit committee meetings, facilitating access to management and audit personnel, and also ensuring timely issuance of meeting notices and minutes.

 

For committee members, applicants must not be current or recent employees of the entity or have had business dealings with it in the past two years.

Work Experience

The applicants should hold a university degree, have at least five years of work experience, and be members of a professional body in good standing.

Applicants are also required to have knowledge of public service and government operations together with complying with Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Members of the Audit Committee will support the Accounting Officer on matters of risk, control, and governance.

They are to follow up on audit recommendations, approve annual audit work plans and budgets, and also evaluate the internal audit function.

Responsibilities

The Ministry stated that both the Chairperson and members will serve under a three year term which is renewable once they are complete.

However, the Ministry says that after every term, at least one third of the committee is required to retire and will not be eligible for reappointment.

Roles and responsibilities are to align with guidelines which are issued by the Public Sector Accounting Standards Board.

Successful candidates will receive allowances for attending meetings as determined by the National Treasury, along with reimbursement for the expenses during committee duties.

Required Documents and How to Apply 

Interested applicants are required to submit detailed curriculum vitae, copies of academic and professional certificates, testimonials, and a national identity card in a sealed envelope addressed to the Cabinet Secretary of Gender, Culture and Child Services.

Applications can also be submitted via email. The physical address provided is the Ministry’s office at Maktaba Kuu Building in Upperhill, Nairobi.

The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 20, 2026, before close of business.

The Ministry said only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Clearance

Shortlisted applicants will therefore be required to provide clearance documents which include a certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, clearance from the Higher Education Loans Board.

A tax compliance certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority, clearance from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission, and a credit report from an approved Credit Reference Bureau will also be required.
